Introduction to Jordi Creixell
Hello everyone, my name is Jordi Creixell. I am a parishioner at Saint Catherine of Siena who loves my family, good movies, soccer, and food. To me, the most impactful insight from this class so far came though our questioning of what it means to be holy. Too often we consider ourselves holy because we go to mass or do a lot of service, but in reality, holiness isn’t dependent upon any superficial action, habit, or custom. Holiness is who we are, not what we do. Our actions usually reflect who we are, but they alone cannot change it. On this pilgrimage, I think that I’ll probably struggle with this. I’ll struggle not to simply go though the motions and act however I think I should, rather than experiencing God though every church, catacomb, and fellow pilgrim. I pray that thoughout this pilgrimage, God helps me stay focused on the reason we are going to Rome in the first place. I pray that I return home more open to God. In many ways, thoughout different stages of my life, I have been spiritually asleep, only going though the motions. I’ve never struggled to live a moral life, but I fall into a rut and cease to appreciate my gifts, blessings, and God himself. I hope that I’ll come back fully awake and more ready to be truly holy.
