Carry the Fire

The motto I chose for this pilgrimage was “To carry the fire and to go out and spread it.” I found this quote in a book that we read earlier this called “The Road” and I changed it up a little to where it would work for this pilgrimage. The characters goal in this book was to carry this fire with him until the end of the story. The fire represents the spirit within us. We carry our spirit with us at all times and during this pilgrimage not only was I able to carry it with me but I was able to expand the growth of my spirit and was able to grow closer to God in many different forms. Not only was this applied to the pilgrimage but this is a motto I go off of everyday. My goal is to find God in all things and with knowing that my spirit is with me to guide me through this helps out a lot. Post Pilgrimage, I am able to see the beauty in everything with a greater mindset. The way I spread this fire can be through lots of ways. My goal is for someone to see the beauty and perfection of how my fire can spread to them and so on. Our spiritual actions lead to more spiritual actions and if we keep this mindset of keeping the fire within us and spreading it, we will become better people and the world will change drastically.

For every good thing there has to be a consequence. This consequence is sin and will be used in the analogy of “water”. Just as we try to spread our fire, there is something that always tends to get through us and destroys our inner being. The water extinguishes our fire and we are supposed to get back up and learn from our mistakes. Satan is very smart and knows all of our weaknesses. His goal is to make us feel guilty inside and the only way we can overcome him is by spreading the fire. For those who fall in to the trap of Satan, it is our job to bring them back to a new life and a new beginning, where they are able to live a more peaceful and spiritual life.

Fire is known for spreading and if we spread it, whether it be in small random acts of kindness or huge acts that can change someone for eternity, the world will be come a new and we will be able to bring this fire with us when we face God in the end.
