Introduction to Mr. Romano

Introduction: My name is Tommy Romano.  I am a Roman Catholic, son, brother, uncle, grand-uncle, J.R.R. Tolkien fan, quilter and a member of the Theology faculty at Strake Jesuit for the past 25 years.  I am a parishioner at Our Lady of Walsingham Catholic Church.

Biggest Distraction:  I believe that my biggest distraction will be the day-to-day business that I will be doing behind the scenes to make sure that each day stays on track.  It will be a challenge to juggle the mundane with the sublime.

Biggest Grace: Ultimately I hope I have no clue as to what God has in store for me.  I desire the most, the graces which He wishes to give.  If He does that, it will be better than anything I could think of.  As I was telling some of the parents at Spring Fling this past weekend, the best part of this trip for me is being able to draw upon my knowledge of the Eternal City for the benefit of the pilgrims.  The best part of the trip is seeing the pilgrims not have to worry about what bus to take or having to scour a map to find where they are going.  I love that they can relax and enjoy the experience of the pilgrimage.

Bringing it Home: Again, I can only pray that God blesses this pilgrimage like He did with the 2015 pilgrimage.  Three years after having returned home, I still keep in contact with those guys - all of whom are well into college.  Whenever we reunite, there is an unspoken joy and fraternal bond that comes from having been pilgrims together.

Closing Remarks:  Please pray for us!  I cannot begin to relate how much the prayers of our family and friends back home mean to us.  Know that we carry you and your petitions with us.
