Introduction to Diego Blancq-Cazaux

My name is Diego Blancq-Cazaux, and I am currently a senior at Strake Jesuit. I attend St. John Vianney's Catholic Church. During the past couple of months, I have learned what it really takes to become holy. One must first realize who one truly is, a process that requires humility. We must recognize that we are on this earth to do God's will and not our own and to accomplish His will, we must surrender ours completely. We often try to solve our problems by ourselves, but we will never solve them until we surrender our will to God and allow Him to work in our lives. I have also learned that being (becoming something) is more important than doing. Performing holy actions does not necessarily mean we are holy. Once we change who we are, our actions will reflect our new self. For me, pilgrimage is a spiritual and physical journey, especially a long one, made for religious purposes to a sacred site. The biggest challenge for me in this pilgrimage will be to focus on the spiritual and physical aspect of this journey rather than thinking of it as a vacation. I hope I will grow closer to God and grow in my faith through this pilgrimage. I think this pilgrimage will help me become a more active member of the Church and my local community.
